Connection, activity and wellbeing
Roots of Resilience is a community organisation founded in 2023. It helps men, families and communities connect, get active and build resilience through practical activities, small groups and learning. Its approach brings physical and mental wellbeing together in welcoming spaces where people can take part at their own pace.
A place to talk — or simply listen
Men’s Monthly offers men aged 18 and over a regular opportunity to share experiences and spend time with others. Conversations can include work, family, health, grief and everyday pressures. There is no expectation to speak: listening is welcome too. The group offers peer support, with volunteers helping create a respectful atmosphere.
Getting active together
Walking football gives men aged 40 and over a chance to enjoy football at a gentler pace. People can join regardless of their experience or fitness, with time for conversation as well as the game. Family activities offer another way to spend time together, meet people and enjoy shared experiences.

Adventure in the outdoors
Forest Adventures brings people together for camping, bushcraft and practical outdoor experiences. Activities include lighting fires, cooking outdoors and building shelters. No previous camping experience is needed; the emphasis is on taking part, learning together and finding space for conversation.

Building resilience in everyday life
Wellbeing workshops explore resilience, fulfilment and managing emotions. Health awareness visits bring conversations about physical and mental wellbeing into workplaces and community events. Together, these programmes encourage people to build habits and connections that can support them through life’s challenges.
Care, respect and trust
The organisation’s values include honesty, mutual respect, compassion, empathy and confidentiality. It aims to combine a hopeful outlook with a realistic understanding of people’s circumstances, offering encouragement grounded in what is achievable.
